Olaun Simmons will serve both the towns of Dumfries and Quantico as the Town Attroney.
Simmons is employed by the Town of Dumfries and is paid a part-time salary of $89,144, according to the town budget. Simmons works 32 hours per week at Dumfries.

Residents came together on Saturday, December 12 at Brothers Encore Italian Restaurant in Montclair to celebrate the public service of School Board members Milt Johns and Betty Covington.
Speakers included Alyson Satterwhite, Gainesville District School Board Representative, Gil Trenum, Brentsville District School Board Representative, Dr. Michael Otaigbe, Coles District School Board Representative and Tim Singstock who organized the event.
The Occoquan District Boy Scouts have partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to help provide gifts to the community.
According to Ken Eggers, a member of the district Boy Scouts, Toys for Tots has declared December 19 ‘Scout Day’ at their Dumfries warehouse at 17001 Interstate Drive.

The future looks bleak for transit bus service in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
The Potoamc and Rappahannock Transportation Commission which operates OmniRide commuter buses and OmniLink local buses faces a $9 million budget shortfall in fiscal year 2017. That number grows to about $12 million in FY 2018 and continues in the following years.
Prince William police said the second and final suspect in a robbery that occurred in Dumfries last month turned herself into police.

The City of Manassas recently completed a retail study using H. Blount Hunter Retail & Real Estate Research Co. The study was designed to examine the market and trade area from the perspective of a retailer. This economic analysis is intended to assist in recruiting retail businesses to Manassas and guide future planning and development efforts.
The City analyzed several existing and potential retail trade areas where shoppers can find a mix of chain and independent businesses. These areas are primarily located on transportation corridors and include Sudley Road, Mathis Avenue, Liberia Avenue, and Route 28/Nokesville Road.
Crews with Dominion Virginia Power are still working to repair power lines that went down about 4 p.m.

Virginia environmental officials took questions Tuesday night from the public about a plan to treat toxic water and drain it into the Potomac River.
Residents who live near Dominion Virginia Power’s Possum Point Power Station outside Dumfries and across from Quantico say they’re fearful of the plan, which could lead to higher than normal levels of heavy metals in Quantico Creek and Potomac River that would flow downstream to the Chesapeake Bay.
