STAFFORD — The Stafford County School Board is looking into further energy performance contracting in order to optimize existing facilities, seeking to conserve energy and save money. 

Appearing as an information item at the June 25 meeting, the Board reviewed a construction contract with Trane Energy Services to move ahead with energy conservation plans. 


STAFFORD — The Stafford County School Board is considering new revisions to its existing nondiscrimination policy that are raising unanswered questions. 

One of the biggest proposed changes is the inclusion of protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity; however, many questions still remain as to how these anti-discrimination protections will be carried out by the county and how the policy will affect students and teachers directly.


WOODBRIDGE — School officials want to send a message to drivers on Prince William Parkway: Slow down.

This fall, the new John D. Jenkins Elementary School will open, located near the busy intersection of the parkway and Hillendale Drive, where a Sheetz gas station sits.


MANASSAS — Osbourn High School Career and Technical Education students are competing at the national SkillsUSA championship in Kentucky from June 24 to 28.

In April of this year, the school participated in the 55th SkillsUSA Virginia State Championships in Virginia Beach where they secured state championship titles in Crime Scene Investigation and Esthetics for a second consecutive year.
