Gordon Silver is a Republican running for a seat on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors. 

If elected as the George Washington District Supervisor, Silver would be a newcomer to the county’s political stage. 


The survey, conducted September 4-9 for UMW by the national research firm SSRS, found that Kaine had a 51 percent to 33 percent margin among registered voters and a 52 percent to 36 percent margin among likely voters. Libertarian candidate Matt Waters received 5 percent support in both subsets of Virginians.


MANASSAS PARK — Local business owners and elected officials met Thursday at Preston’s Pub to get to know each other and discuss the city’s commercial future.

Members of Prince William Chamber of Commerce were present, along with city officials Mayor Jeanette Rishell and council members Michael Carrera, Miriam Machado, and Donald Shuemaker. Many local businesses came to network and hear about the city’s advancement.


WOODBRIDGE — Virginia is one of the states that has yet to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, but a group in Prince William County is trying to change that.

It kicked off their effort on Women’s Equality Day, Sunda, Aug. 26, at the Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge where they watched Iron Jawed Angels and shared the microphone with ERA champ and television star Alyssa Milano.


STAFFORD — A wife, mother of six, and strategic planner, now Vangie Williams will add another title to her resume — congressional candidate.

Williams, of King George, won the Democratic nomination to run for a seat in the U.S. House in Virginia’s 1st District, a seat long held by Republican Rob Wittman. Williams beat her two challengers in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election Edwin Santana, of Stafford, by seven points, and Prince William County native turned Hanover County resident John Suddarth by nearly 13 points.
