Mount Olive Baptist Church in Rectortown, Va. in Fauquier County is pleased to announce our new pastor, Rev. Tony J. Craddock, Sr. who will preach his initial sermon on July 1.
Rev. Craddock was ordained into the gospel ministry in February 1998 by the Northern Virginia Ministers Association. Rev. Craddock is a member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dumfries where he served as an Associate Minister. Welcome Rev. Craddock!
More passenger trains bound for the Potomac Communities will experience delays today.
Virginia Railway Express told passengers this afternoon excessive heat will spark about delays on the system’s Fredericksburg line, which is owned by freight railroad CSX.
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va — Officials will cut the ribbon on two new sections of the Belmont-Ferry Farm Trail on Saturday.
Phases three and five of the six-section trail will open tomorrow. The trail will eventually link Historic Falmouth with Ferry Farm – George Washington’s boyhood home on the Rappahannock River. It’s being built in sections and, when finished, will link to other areas like Saint Claire Brooks Park, as well as other areas across the river in Fredericksburg, forming the “Heritage Loop.”
DUMFRIES, Va. — Summer camp is in full swing at the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Potomac Communities.
Boys and Girls clubs in Dale City, Dumfries, and Manassas, have welcomed 500 registered teens to the clubs for the annual “Send a Kid to Camp” summer event. Touted as an affordable quality alternative to other summer camps, the clubs offer basketball and volleyball leagues in the evening, and new a teen, and sports camp programs for those ages 5 to 17-years-old.
LAKE RIDGE, Va. — There’s new life for a wedding band that was used as a bottle opener.
Lake Ridge jeweler Fred Van Doren said he spoke with a client who broke their wedding band while popping open a cold one. Van Doren took a look at the ring and noticed the breakage was caused by poor porosity.
Tim Bauckman, proprietor of Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse in Dumfries, and Tim’s 2 at Fairview Beach in King George, will open a third location near Mineral, at Lake Anna. The new restaurant, Tim’s at Lake Anna, will offer high-quality family style dining options and a unique waterfront atmosphere unlike other area establishments.
“Tim’s at Lake Anna will be a year-round operation, and more of a destination restaurant than our other two locations on the Potomac River. We will be able to maintain our waterfront ambiance at this new location, and greatly expand on our offerings for our friends around Lake Anna,” said Bauckman.

BRIDGE LINKING MARINE CORPS BASE WILL BE DEMOLISHED

The Lake Ridge Rotary Club held their annual Celebrity Luncheon at Bistro L’Hermitage restaurant in Occoquan. Nearly 120 people came to the annual fundraiser and were served food and drinks by Prince William Occoquan Supervisor Mike May, Coles District Supervisor Marty Nohe, Delegate Richard Anderson, Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta, and Chairman of the Potomac Health Foundation Marion Wall, and CASA Greater Prince William Executive Director Charlyn Hasson-Brown (she appeared as Dolly Parton we’re told).
