WOODBRIDGE, Va. — People, and dogs, benefit from the water passed out to homeless camps today in Woodbridge.
Since temperatures soared above the century mark Friday, volunteers at AfterShare distributed more than 20 cases of water and Gatorade to homeless campers in the wooded areas in and around Woodbridge.

Dominion Virginia Power has a big job ahead of them: restore power to more than 900,000 customers who are out while 100-degree temperatures bear down the region. The utility has called this restoration effort major, and likened it to work normally performed after a hurricane.
DUMFRIES, Va. — Emergency crews were called to a water main break on U.S. 1 in Dumfries on Friday afternoon. The break caused delays on the highway, and sent a geyser shooting high into the air.

8 p.m. Power repairs: It could take a while
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Just because there wasn’t any action on the baseball field today that doesn’t mean things weren’t hot at Pfitzner Stadium.
A skeleton crew of Potomac Nationals employees was inside the management offices at the Woodbridge baseball stadium just before 5 p.m. Friday when they smelled what they thought was natural gas. They evacuated the building, and no sooner did they get outside did they see flames shooting from windows, said Potomac Nationals General Manager Josh Olerud.

The crash happened about 4:20 p.m. Friday in the area of Port Potomac Avenue and U.S. 1 in Woodbridge.

Now, Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge will give shoppers the chance to drive a new Fiat 500. The test drives will be conducted in the mall parking lot outside HomeGoods through 9 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release from the mall.

Fairfax County police now investigating the death of local Islamic leader Mohammed Mehboob, 58, said a state medical examiner will determine the cause of death. That report has yet to be released.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The owners of a Woodbridge, Va.-based home health care business have been indicted for allegedly submitting numerous false claims for Medicaid reimbursement for services they did not provide.
