Officer Yung Remembered for Warm Smile, Bringing Other Family Members to Prince William Police

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William police are honoring one of their own today.

Black ribbon was draped over the door , police motorcycles and cruisers at the Gar-Field Eastern District Police Station in Woodbridge this morning after the line-of-duty death of 35-year-old Prince William police Officer Chris Yung, who was killed yesterday on Va. 28 near Manassas. Yung, who patrolled on a police motorcycle, collided with a mini-van that was making a left turn into a shopping center at Piper Lane about 2 p.m. Monday.

Leesylvania Collecting Items for Care Packages for Soldiers

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Volunteers at Leesylvania State Park are putting together care packages for soldiers in honor of the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

The care packages are being assembled for Operation Homefront, and various items are needed to fill boxes.

SoberRide Offering Free Cab Rides Home Tonight

It’s New Years Eve and many people in our area will be out celebrating the coming of 2013. The holiday also means you can get a free cab ride home from your party – a cab with fares up to $30.

The annual SoberRide program is organized each year by the Washington Regional Alcohol Program and is designed to curb drunken driving on area streets. To use the service, riders must call 1-800-200-TAXI to order a cab for the ride home.
