RICHMOND — Weekend hunters in Virginia may be able to enjoy more hunting opportunities if Gov. Terry McAuliffe signs a law lifting the traditional ban on Sunday hunting within the commonwealth.

House Bill 1237, patroned by Delegate Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, passed the General Assembly and now is in the hands of the governor. A similar bill, Senate Bill 154, is expected to pass the General Assembly later this week.

You can beat traffic congestion on Interstate 95 this weekend by riding the Metro Direct bus from Woodbridge for free.

The HOV lanes will be closed this weekend from 11 p.m. tonight to 2 p.m. Sunday, and that can cause major traffic headaches through the region as the lack of the two HOV lanes can cause delays to stack up on the highway.

OCCOQUAN, Va. — The entrepreneurial Mayor of Occoquan picked has set a milestone by picking up his 1,000th passenger.

Earine Porta and his Occoquan Transportation Company has been shutting people between an Amtrak station in Lorton to the small town along the Occoquan River in Prince William County since April of last year. A longtime promoter of small business in the tiny town of just under 800 residents, Porta thought his private company would help spur tourism in the area.

Dr. Lewis Brown, head of the Brown Foundation, has provide the Stafford Parks and Recreation Department with memorabilia to display in honor of Black History Month.

These items displayed will honor several African-Americans that played a role in Stafford’s history. A reception is being held today at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate display.

DUMFRIES, Va. — The unsightly remnants of a billboard that once stood along U.S. 1 in Dumfries are gone.

PotomacLocal.com first told you about the billboard that was blown down in a storm last year. It had sat in disrepair along the major commuter thoroughfare for months drawing complaints from town residents.
