MANASSAS, Va. — On February 21 shortly before 9 p.m., Irene Coca’s life changed forever when three armed men entered Platanillos Grocery and Jewelry in Woodbridge and shot Coca’s daughter, killing her.

Glenda Marisol Coca-Romero had only been in the U.S. for a year and a half, according to her father. She was a nice girl who loved to talk to customers at the store where she worked.

RICHMOND, Va. – Just three days before the Virginia General Assembly is scheduled to adjourn, Republican leaders in the House of Delegates have proposed a special legislative session to debate Medicaid expansion.

The House and Senate are less than one-tenth of one percent (or $26 million) apart from compromising on a two-year, $96 billion state budget agreement, but GOP leadership reinforced its position Tuesday that Medicaid Expansion does not belong in the budget bill.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William officials must now decide if they are going borrow money to fund the remainder of a long wish list of improvements at county parks.

Officials must act by November 2016 to borrow up to $13.7 million to fund improvements such as adding new playing fields or lighting to existing fields. When the option to take out a bond to fund the improvements was advertised, and ultimately approved by voters eight years ago, officials said the money could be used to expand indoor swimming pools at the Chinn Fitness and Aquatics Center in Woodbridge and the Ben Lomond Community Center near Manassas.
