NOKESVILLE, Va. — On a summer Friday afternoon in the country, traveling on Aden Road in Nokesville is anything but easy.
Here’s the latest information on the body found Sunday in Manassas.
City of Manassas, Virginia. . . On Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at 10:33 a.m. Manassas City Police were called to the scene of a suspicious death in the 8900 block of Nicol Lane. Neighbors had discovered a body located near a dumpster area. After further investigation, Police determined that the victim, a 26 year old male, was killed by apparent stab wounds. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the family. More information will be forth coming as the investigation

I once read a book by Seth Godin, titled “Linchpin-Are you Indispensable?” It was an interesting book that expounded on the idea of making oneself indispensable in the workplace and therefor, invaluable to the company. I think Godin was intent on teaching us self-worth and creating our own space in the world, but I thought that concept “indispensable” was not a great idea. After all, how do you take vacations if you’re indispensable? What if you move? What happens when you die?
I’ve belonged to many great groups and organizations and I always try to get folks to plan ahead, get young, quick minds involved and folks who can physically meet the challenges of our obligations. It’s important that we mentor and encourage the next generation to become involved in their community.

This wonderful service has been around for a long time and extremely beneficial to so many individuals. You will receive a super training to give you all the skills needed. Secondly, please mark your calendars for Saturday October 18th for the Annual 5K I Walk to benefit services to the homeless. This year’s event is at Pfitzner Stadium at 10am. DUMFRIES, Va. – The Lazy Pig BBQ and Catering is a southern carry-out restaurant located off of U.S. 1 in Dumfries. The restaurant is housed in a small, rambler house that has been converted into a commercial space.
At The Lazy Pig BBQ and Catering, barbecue lovers will find their favorites like macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, cornbread, and collard greens. The Lazy Pig’s ribs, pulled pork, and briskets are all smoked on site in their two large smokers that sit in front of the restaurant.
Weather permitting, at 11 p.m. Friday night, August 15, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-395/95 from the Washington D.C., line to the end at Dumfries Road (Route 234) until 8 a.m. Saturday, August 16, and again on Saturday night at 11 p.m. until 8 a.m., Sunday morning, August 17. The closures are needed for overnight construction on the 95 Express Lanes Project.

DALE CITY, Va. – On August 12, a owner of a vacant building told police that someone damaged a rotating front door and stole several televisions worth a total of over $4000.

MANASSAS, Va. – On August 12, staff at Manassas Mosque told police that someone vandalized the building with orange spray paint and damaged a back side door. According to the report, there are no suspects and it is not clear whether this was a hate crime.
