Students at George Mason University’s Beacon Hall have a new dining option.

Wings Pizza N Things will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2015. The new restaurant joins a Subway restaurant located on the ground floor of a new residence at the Prince William Campus, or soon to be known as Science and Technology Campus of George Mason University just outside Manassas.

Master Chief Albert Victor Poillucci, U.S. Navy (Ret.) Formerly of Allston, Massachusetts –

Retired Master Chief Albert Victor (“Vic”) Poillucci born December 20th, 1937, entered into eternal rest on April 1, 2015. He proudly served 24 years in the United States Navy. He was highly decorated and attained the highest enlisted rank of E-9. Dad was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign War, The Republican National Committee and the Council of Logistics Engineering Professionals. He was astute with his civic responsibilities teaching American History classes to potential immigrants. As a true patriot he volunteered teaching high school students (and many more) the significance and history of Flag Day and was a huge supporter of the VFW Patriots Pen scholarship program.


Obituaries

David W. Barger, 59, of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30th 2015 at Fairfax hospital after a brief illness. He was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully went home to be with the Lord.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, the late Gilbert Barger and Peggy Barger, his brother Kenneth Barger and his wife Carrie Bain-Barger.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that April is National Distracted Driving Month. This year’s theme, provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association is “U Drive. U Text. U Pay”.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will be actively patrolling, looking for motorists who are texting and driving. Texting While Driving is now a primary offense in Virginia with drivers facing a fine of $125.00 and court costs for the 1st offense and a fine of $250.00 and court costs for the second offense. Studies show that drivers are 23 times more likely to be in an accident if they are texting and driving and more than 3000 teens die each year in crashes caused by texting while driving.

Wesley Earl Phillips, a 20-year old Triangle man, has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual battery by the Prince William County Police Department.

Detectives from the Prince William police’s Special Victims unit were called on February 13 to investigate reports of sexual battery at the PACE-East School on Joplin Road in Manassas, according to a Prince William police release.
