Parks don’t talk. That’s just silly. But “River Mill Park” is indeed the name of the new park at the end of Mill Street in Occoquan. The new green is still under construction. It replaces an old water treatment facility once owned and operated by Fairfax Water.

The Marine Corps Historic Half will begin by the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center located at 2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway. The Historic 10K will start near the Quarles Petroleum parking lot at 1701 Fall Hill Avenue. And the Semper Fred 5K will begin at the Fredericksburg Shopping Center located at the intersection of Route 1/Jefferson Davis Highway and Fall Hill Avenue.
All running events begin at 7 a.m. All race-day road closures begin at 5 a.m. Roads will reopen as soon as the last runners pass each area of the courses.
On May 16, the Occoquan River Maritime Association will be hosting their Sail Occoquan event.
The event, which begins at 9:50 a.m., will include a boat parade and “The Blessing of the Fleet”.

Late in the evening on May 10, Prince William police responded to a business on Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge, to investigate a call for disorderly behavior.
According to Prince William police, the caller stated that the suspect – 34-year old Philip Strader – was intoxicated and being aggressive against other individuals in the parking lot of the business.
The three candidates – Jeremy McPike, Delegate Michael Futrell and Atif Qarni – are hoping to fill the long held seat of Senator Chuck Colgan, will debate local issues concerning governance in the district, which includes Prince William County and Manassas.
The candidates will take part in a state-run primary on June 9, which will decide who will go against Republican challenger Hal Parrish, Mayor for the City of Manassas, in November.
