Historic Dumfries and the Weems-Botts Museum will help you see how a child would have dressed, used manners, played and lived in Colonial Virginia! Learn to make colonial foods and churn butter, stencil designs, do candle making,  quill pen and ink writing, make clay beads, and learn how to play and dance like you’re living in 18th century Virginia!  Join George Washington and Patrick Henry and explore the meaning of “Liberty.” Take a scavenger hunt in the oldest chartered town in Virginia, make a colonial hat or mop cap, and participate as one of the members of the “Dumfries Resolves.”

“The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center is working towards expanding our programming offerings with a focus on health and wellness for community members. The partnership with Project Mend-A-House and the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program will allow us to provide new opportunities to assist patrons with education and support as they work towards making improvements in their health. The evidence-based Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) was developed by the Stanford Medical School. It is designed for people with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes heart disease, lung disease, cancer, MS, arthritis, COPD, obesity, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, depression, pain and other chronic conditions. Caregivers are also welcome. The program is designed to help people live well and better manage their conditions. Sessions include information on:

Discover Prince William & Manassas has plans to close the Occoquan Visitor’s Center on August 2, and will be meeting to talk about it on July 20.

The organization – also known as the Convention & Visitor’s Bureau – who is responsible for tourism in the county, consider the visitor’s center to be a low return on investment, according to their Executive Director Ann Marie Maher.

The identities of the three individuals arrested by the Stafford sheriff’s office – following a bank robbery yesterday – have been released.

The three individuals are 35-year old Richmond man Jerome Anderson, 28-year old Richmond man Anthony Washington and 21-year old Richmond man Tyrone Jones.

The RSVP program of Volunteer Prince William is pleased to announce that our Veterans Enhanced Transportation Service (V.E.T.S.) Program Volunteer; Mr. Bruce Wood,  has been recognized by the Cabot Creamery Cooperative as one of their Community Celebrity Awardees.

Bruce Wood joined the Volunteer Prince William-Retired Senior Volunteer Program in april of 2013.  He had recently retired retired and was looking for a volunteer opportunity, at the same time RSVP, in partnership w/ the Prince William Area Agency on Aging (PWAAA), joined forces to start the Volunteer supported, Veterans Enhanced Transportation Service (V.E.T.S.)

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals found Wilson and Shook in Smyth County, Virginia, where they were taken to a nearby sheriff’s office.

Fourteen year old Hayleigh Wilson has been missing since June 22.
