Born July 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Emory and Nannie Lane Powers. On May 1, 1964 in Fairfax, VA, he married the former Patricia Lettner, who survives.
For many years, Dewey and his family were members and attended the Yorkshire Free Will Baptist church in Manassas; and are current members of the Lighthouse Free Will Baptist Church in Maurertown. For over 45 years, he was also the band leader of the Travelling Pilgrims Bluegrass Gospel Group; and for the last 22 years Dewey has been employed and worked with his dear friend Dennis Singhas at Valley Drilling in Upperville.

Robert McLaughlin, age 76 of Machipongo, VA died on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Tribute at Heritage Village in Gainesville, VA.
He is survived by his children Jim McLaughlin and wife Annette, Barbara McNiff and husband John, Marianne McLaughlin and Chris McLaughlin and wife Lindsey; his sister Helen Lechner and by 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Nellie Hinderman McLeod, loving wife and mother, was born in Beeville, Texas on November 8, 1926 and passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017. Nellie was a Civil Rights Activist who was the leader in the movement to integrate Chesterfield County Virginia Public Schools and other public institutions throughout Virginia.
