WOODBRIDGE — Looking to hold an event in Prince Willam County?

The office of tourism wants to help by connecting you with the owners of venues and area event planners. The county’s office of tourism wants to attract events like reunions, parties, weddings, or meetings of groups of 10 or more.

Editor’s note: This is a look at the old Ray Farm, the site that is being considered as a place to build 325 new homes, called “Ray’s Regarde.” 

After purchasing 88 acres for $1,000 in cash from Aubrey L. Clarke and Maude Blaine Clarke of Washington D.C. on June 14, 1920, 46-year-old lay preacher, carpenter, and farmer, George W. Ray started to build a house for his still growing family.

From Prince William police: 

Stabbing Investigation *ARREST – On April 5, detectives from the Gang Unit concluded an investigation regarding a stabbing that occurred at the 7-Eleven located at 13990 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge on November 17. Upon further investigation, detectives determined that this incident was gang related. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified and arrested both suspects. One of the suspects, identified as a 17-year-old male, was arrested without incident in January. The second suspect, identified as Deybi Preczadis MEZA SOTO, was arrested in Fairfax County on April 5. The investigation continues.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Many of the residents who live around Lake Montclair are seeing a first — the lake bottom.

Work on a $1.2 million project to improve the spillway at the lake’s dam at Dolphin Beach, one of the tallest earthen dams in the state, is about to get underway. The capacity of the spillway needed to be improved and brought up to state code.
