Catharpin Road between the northern Executive Drive intersection and Route 234 (Sudley Road) will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 for stormwater pipe replacement, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Police are searching for the driver suspected of causing a violent chain-reaction crash.
Five people on Tuesday were in an SUV traveling south on a two-lane portion of Route 234 toward Interstate 66. As the SUV approached the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, an oncoming driver swerved into their lane at 5 p.m.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Fire and rescue crews became stranded by floodwaters after they were called to rescue the driver of a pick up that drove through rising waters.
The call went out at 7:10 a.m., when crews from Prince William County and Quantico were dispatched to Fleetwood Drive behind the Marine Corps Base in Nokesville.
A sinkhole measuring 18 feet deep and 25 feet wide has crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation working overtime.
The hole formed last week in North Stafford after heavy rains in the area, and subsequently forced the transportation agency to close a portion of Eustace Road between Northhampton Boulevard and Legal Court.
