Work continues on the effort to bring toll lanes to Interstate 66 between Haymarket and the Capital Beltway.

As weather conditions allow, crews will continue corridor-wide roadway maintenance and address issues as needed, with daily multi-lane closures during daytime and overnight hours on Interstate  66 east and east, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

ALEXANDRIA — (Press release) Positive train control (PTC) is fully operational on all Virginia Railway Express (VRE) trains, according to the railroad’s Chief Executive Officer Doug Allen.

The safety milestone was achieved April 11, 2019, when each of VRE’s 32 inbound and outbound trains on the Fredericksburg and Manassas lines ran under PTC operation. PTC is designed to automatically control train speeds and movements should an engineer not take suitable action for a given situation.

STAFFORD COUNTY — All lanes of Interstate 95 northbound are closed in Stafford County at mile marker 147, just south of Exit 148/Quantico Marine Corps Base, for a multi-vehicle crash.

Drivers should anticipate significant northbound travel delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

STAFFORD — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about people who pose as members of law enforcement, reputable businesses leaders, or other entities in an attempt to steal money by asking victims for payment in the form of gift cards.

In one case, a Stafford resident reported receiving a call from an individual claiming to be from the DEA. The individual told the victim that her social security number had been linked to a drug trafficking incident in Texas and that she needed to put money into a “safe card” to protect herself, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
