WASHINGTON, D.C. – (Press Release) The amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus—which in excess can degrade water quality—have declined dramatically in the Potomac River since the 1980s, and are on track for further reductions, says a new COG report.
The findings of the report, Potomac River Water Quality in Metropolitan Washington, were presented today to the COG Board of Directors. The report analyzes long-term data from 1985 to 2016, rather than relying on a single year or point in time, which can be impacted by weather conditions.
STAFFORD — On July 20, prepare to set sail at the 15th annual cardboard boat regatta at Aquia Landing Park.

Earlier this year, I shared with our community my key budget priorities for the upcoming 2019-20 school year, and I am pleased to announce that those priorities were all fully funded. This is only possible due to the strong collaboration with our teachers, parents, and staff in developing the budget.
I also want to thank our School Board and the Board of County Supervisors for their unanimous support, and our local state representatives who helped advocate for, and pass, an increase in state funding for teacher pay. Through this collaboration, we are able to provide an average 4.8 percent increase for our teachers and employees, with no increase in employee health care costs.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The following graduation dates, times, and locations have been announced in Prince William County Public Schools.
