ALEXANDRIA – Transurban, operators of the I-95 E-ZPass Express Lanes, is sharing these travel tips to promote both fast and safe travel this Memorial Day weekend.
Traffic on I-95 is expected to surge as early as Thursday, May 23. Using the E-ZPass lanes could shave up to 75 minutes off of your drive.
STAFFORD – The Graphic Imaging and Printing program at North Stafford High School (NSHS) is the Region Three winner of 2019 Creating Excellence Program Award.

HAYMARKET – Tough Mudder Classic, an eight to 10-mile obstacle course adventure, is coming to Haymarket’s Silver Lake Park for the weekend of June 1 and 2.
According to Amanda Evertz, a Tough Mudder PR representative, the Silver Lake property was chosen because it has a varied terrain including open areas and woods trails. It’s also a scenic property with a geographic location well-suited to the event. Depending on the mud, it’s expected to be an exciting course.
ALEXANDRIA — (Press Release) A Mexican citizen who was convicted in state court of a sex offense against a minor pleaded guilty today to illegally reentering the United States.
According to court documents, Jose Fabian Murcia, 41, was removed from the country at taxpayer expense in 2001 and 2004. In 2018, law enforcement encountered him in Virginia after he was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery against a victim under the age of 13 and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship – both felonies in Virginia. Fabian Murcia was later convicted in Prince William County for indecent liberties with a child.
Margaret Franklin is running for the Board of Supervisors for Woodbridge and wants to keep fighting for Woodbridge’s potential and growth.
The political newcomer seeks to unseat the long-serving Frank Principi, a Democrat who was first elected Woodbridge District Supervisor in 2007.
Qasim Rashid, a human rights attorney, is running for Virginia State Senator for the 28th District on a platform of equality, increased healthcare access, and prioritizing education. The district includes Stafford and a portion of Prince William County.
Republican Richard Stuart currently holds the seat.
Raheel Sheikh is seeking a seat on the Board of County Supervisors for the Coles District. He is a local business owner with plans to improve education and transportation.
