PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press release) Bike to Work Day is coming up on May 17, and the event will give people the opportunity to ditch their cars for a day to celebrate biking as a clean, healthy and fun way to get around.

George Phillips, a county transportation planner who is helping coordinate Bike to Work Day in Prince William County, said the event is designed to get people thinking about alternative modes transportation. “Bike to Work is to get people to focus and look at the possibility of another way to get to work, to realize there are other options out there other than taking their cars.”

Obituaries

James Mullins of Haymarket, Virginia passed away unexpectedly on April 17 at the age of 62. He passed in his home that he had shared with his cherished wife, Barbara Walker Mullins, with whom he has now been reunited, as their love story continues. He is loved and will be missed by brothers Steven, Richard, and Kevin and sister Elizabeth Mullins Karmosky and their spouses, his nieces and nephews, a close and loving extended family, and all of the people fortunate to have shared his friendship.

Jimmy was born October 3, 1956 in Tennessee to Norma Elizabeth and Eugene Mullins. He worked for many years in various capacities in the construction field. His home was filled with love that he and Barb shared with their furry kids, Emmylou and Sasha, and a variety of transient rescues, critters from birds, squirrels, raccoons and skunks to all of the beloved horses and dogs they raised and loved over the years.
