Mary Ann (Kuhlman) Clarke of Manassas was called home to God after a well lived 83 years following a brief battle with metastatic renal cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends until the end. She was born in 1935 in St Louis, MO, where she grew up working at her dad’s grocery stores. She was a graduate of St Louis University School of Nursing. She spent her early career as head operating room nurse at Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children in St Louis before she and her young growing family relocated to Virginia in 1968. She retired from full time nursing to expand and raise her large brood of 8 and over the years worked as a special needs school bus driver, restaurateur, caterer, and spent a large portion of her time volunteering and giving back to the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Clarke, and daughter, Ann Clarke Dollard (Mike). She is survived by her children David Clarke, Joan-Clarke Beahm (Mark), Daniel Clarke, Paul Clarke (Catherine), Joseph Clarke (Michael), Elizabeth Kelso (Andrew), and Jennifer Layden (Joe), grandchildren Michael Clarke (Alicia), Markas Beahm, Taylor Beahm, namesake Mary Elise Beahm, Stephanie Dollard, Jackson Kelso, Leah Kelso, Carter Layden, Hiroya Tonoshita, Kate Fajardo, and one revered great grandson, Alexander Clarke.

The developers of a new Tru by Hilton Hotel will receive a $10,000 grant from the Manassas Economic Development Authority once the new hotel opens.

STAFFORD — (Stafford sheriff’s office press release) Two suspects behind recent larcenies were apprehended on Monday afternoon by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 18, 2019, at approximately 1:39 p.m., Deputy Torrice responded to reports of a stolen= package at a residence on Nugent Drive.


Traffic

NOKESVILLE — (Press release) The historic wrought-iron truss bridge and the recently constructed one-lane bridge carrying Aden Road (Route 646) over the Norfolk Southern Railroad have reopened to traffic, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Closed in 2015, the old truss bridge was rehabilitated and reinstalled to improve safety for drivers, to bring the bridge up to current design standards and to extend the overall life of the bridge. It is now in place to accommodate northbound traffic, alongside the newly constructed span open to accommodate southbound vehicles, enabling two-way traffic over the railroad for the first time.


Traffic

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – Single-lane closures and alternating traffic via flagging will occur at Sudley Manor Drive and Bethlehem Road (weather permitting) Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 so that crews can add new pavement markings and refresh existing ones to improve safety at the intersection, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The work will occur between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day.
