Residents of Prince William County and the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas all use libraries in the county as part of a shared-services agreement. Neither independent city has a library of its own.

The county government builds and manages the libraries, and the cities supplement funding, unlocking the door for city residents to use library services.

Taking action on guns is a top priority for Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-10, Loudoun, Prince William).

“The time has finally come to do something about it,” said Wexton, Wednesday at the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. Her comments come after a recent string of mass shootings in Texas, California, Ohio, and Virginia Beach.

BRISTOW – (Press Release) Bristow award-winning author Katherine Gotthardt, M.Ed. has announced a new project about an unusual local celebrity; a crane named “Steve.”

The crane, owned by Maryland-based Digging & Rigging, Inc. made a hit because of it shape that resembled a robot. Members of the Facebook group Western Prince William Chatter took photos, created memes and dubbed the crane “Steve.” Digging & Rigging, Inc. subsequently put a nametag on the crane, much to the amusement of not just the community, but the local and national news.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) National Preparedness Month is a yearly campaign during the month of September intended to raise awareness of the need for individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities, businesses, and the nation to be prepared for natural, human-caused, and technological disasters.

This year’s theme is Prepared, Not Scared with a special emphasis on empowering children to make decisions in an emergency when parents are not around.


OCCOQUAN —The fall segment of the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will be held rain or shine in downtown historic Occoquan.

WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) OmniRide will test a new style of commuter bus for several weeks in September, continuing to research what vehicles should be included in its fleet of the future.

The new bus that’s being tested features two exits – one at the front and one in the middle – so passengers can disembark quickly. Passengers will continue to enter at the front door where the fare box is located.
