(Virginia Department of Transportation press release) Demolition of the I-66 bridges over Route 29 North in Centreville will require reducing Route 29 under I-66 to a single travel lane in each direction on Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Two-way traffic will run on Route 29 South during this period.

Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. Detours will be posted. Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area.

Richard “Dale” Sword was found dead in a house in Manassas on Thursday, November 14. According to Sgt. Gio Barahona from Manassas police, Sword was found in a vacant house in the 1000 block of Dumfries Road.

While the autopsy for the cause of death is still underway, according to Barahona, Sword, who was homeless, was exposed to record-breaking cold the night before he was found dead. Temperatures dropped to 19 degrees on November 13, according to National Weather Service records.

Prince William

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will teach fourth-grade children how to be safe when they’re home alone.

The program is taught in Prince William County elementary schools. Volunteers who are age 55 or older are needed to teach the classes. They’ll present from a workbook called Safe at Home Safe Alone which provides tips and classroom activities teaching safety.

Prince William police are searching for a man who held-up a cell phone store in Dumfries at gunpoint. A Prince William police press release states:

Armed Robbery – On December 17 at 6:39PM, officers responded to the Boost Mobile located at 18069 Triangle Shopping Plz. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. A store employee reported to police that an unknown man entered the store and approached the employee.
