FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Fredericksburg City School Board will meet tonight to choose a temporary replacement for Ward 3 representative Jennifer Boyd, who resigned earlier this month after moving out of the city.

Boyd’s departure on Sept. 8 left a vacancy the Board must fill by appointment. Whoever is chosen tonight will serve through the end of her term on Dec. 31, 2025.

Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — This year marks a milestone for one of Fredericksburg’s most iconic landmarks. Historic Kenmore, completed in 1775, turns 250 years old, and the community is invited to celebrate with a special Block Party on Saturday, September 27.

Kenmore has stood as a witness to the birth of a nation, the devastation of civil war, the march of modernization, and even natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes. Through it all, the House has endured—just as its stories have endured. As historian Philip J. Wertenbaker once said, “National history is based on local history.” Kenmore embodies that truth, linking Fredericksburg to the broader American story.

DUMFRIES, Va. – Dumfries has finalized its purchase of the Campbell Junkyard property, securing 161 acres along Quantico Creek that town leaders say will anchor a new waterfront district.

Mayor Derrick R. Wood announced the closing Monday, calling the acquisition “a once-in-a-generation opportunity” to reconnect Virginia’s oldest chartered town with its waterfront roots. “This is more than an acquisition. This is a legacy,” Wood said in a statement. “Together, we’re building a new Waterfront Era for Dumfries.”

Manassas

MANASSAS, Va. – Stephen Kent, a Manassas resident who ran for City Council in 2024, says he’s launching a write-in bid for Virginia House District 20 after the Republican nominee stepped down.

“Voters have a choice when they go to the ballot,” Kent told Potomac Local News, calling his effort a “long-shot” that will “require the grace of God to get past the finish line.” He said he’ll focus on affordability, housing supply, school quality, and immigration enforcement, and—while he won’t campaign full time—plans to lean on his personal network and talk with voters “when and where I can.”

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A campaign mailer from Democrat Stacey Carroll accuses Republican incumbent Del. Paul Milde of having “turned his back” on women, veterans, and law enforcement. We reviewed the bills cited (and a few the flyer likely meant to cite), the official vote records, and the fine print. House District 64 is entirely within Stafford County, where voters will decide the Milde–Carroll race on Nov. 4, 2025.

Early voting is now underway.
