^{Ruth Jacqueline Beckh Price, 92, died peacefully in Lake Ridge, Virginia on April 30, 2020.  She was born in 1927 in Richmond, Virginia.  She was a devoted mother who raised three rambunctious boys largely on her own.  Mrs. Price was a pioneer in many regards.  First, despite a  significant hearing disability since early childhood, she graduated from Hood College in 1949 with a degree in Education, and taught public elementary school full-time and as a substitute for many years in Baltimore, Maryland; Goochland County, Virginia (near Richmond); and Wrightsville, Georgia.  Second, she took day-to-day financial responsibility for her family and accepted a job to support it at a time when virtually all her neighborhood friends were stay-at-home Moms.  Third, she attended graduate school while raising three boys, and ultimately received her Masters in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in the mid-‘60s, despite the fact that many colleges and graduate schools were not even accepting women!}   

^{Jacqueline loved the water and going to the beach with her family.  She spent many summers at the Rappahannock River and later at her sister Hilda Sherman’s cottage in Sandbridge Beach, Virginia.  She also spent many summers at the family cottage on the Outer Banks in Duck, North Carolina.  She loved all pets, especially our three-legged Cocker Spaniel named Ginger (one leg was lame), our Siamese cat named Cinnamon, and Rascal, a lovable Golden Retriever mix.  Divorced in the early ‘60s, Jacqueline married Marcus Price in 1971, and moved to Wrightsville, Georgia where she lived for about 30 years.  There she was a devoted wife and business partner with Marc, helping to raise his four children.  They farmed, raised cattle, fished and enjoyed traveling frequently for Marc’s business.  Attending the Masters Golf tournament for many years with Marc was one of her fondest memories.  When Marc died in 2001, Jacqueline moved back to Virginia Beach to be closer to her sons and their growing families, ultimately settling in a continuing care community in Lake Ridge, Virginia, where she was thrilled to be reunited with her sister Jean Beckh Robertson.  Jean took loving care of her sister for the duration of Jacqueline’s stay at Westminster.  Mrs. Price attended Church regularly wherever she lived–worshipping at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Richmond; First United Methodist Church in Wrightsville; King’s Grant Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, or the Chapel at Westminster at Lake Ridge in Lake Ridge.  She frequently taught Sunday School class to adults or children.  She sought contentment in what God gave to her–first and foremost, wonderful friends, family, parents, judgment and intelligence.  We will Honor and Love her forever.}
