Cierra Dickerson, who was involved in the fatal car accident that resulted in the death of Deborah Lynn Talbot, will face trial February 8, 2021.

According to a press release from the Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, the suspect, Cierra Dickerson, 19, is charged with involuntary manslaughter under which carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $2500 fine.

Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman in Woodbridge.

Prince William police were called on Tuesday, July 28, at 12:44 p.m. to Potomac Ridge Apartments located at 2800 block of Woodmark Drive in Woodbridge. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, told police that she and a man were involved in an argument that escalated on July 12.

New citizen self-serve kiosks will replace come after a public law library inside the courthouse closed in March, at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Six kiosks so far have been installed at the courthouse, located at 9300 Lee Avenue in Manassas.

After delaying its initial vote and calling for a special meeting, the Stafford County School Board has made the decision to reopen schools fully virtually.

During its July 29 meeting, the Stafford County School Board approved Superintendent Scott Kizner’s return to learning plan, which begins the school year virtually for students, with exceptions for those in special groups such as special education. For middle school and high school groups, this means students won’t be stepping foot inside school buildings until at least after winter break.


Obituaries

Michael Wayne Tyner, 57 of Woodbridge, VA died at INOVA Fairfax Hospital on July 27, 2020. Michael was born in Maryland to the late Loy Tyner and Vivian Tyner in 1963. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed visiting the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline drive. He was an avid fan and collector of NASCAR. He retired from Fairfax Water Authority after 27 years of service. He was devoted to his mother and her care as well his faithful dog, Marty.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Tyner (Tami) of Beavercreek, OH; two nieces, Amy Tyner (Dave) of Beavercreek, OH and Tara Miller (Kyle) of Findlay, OH; one nephew, James Tyner of Beavercreek, OH. He is also survived by three great nieces and four great nephews.
