Manassas Park officials are questioning why a small street project’s cost has ballooned into millions of dollars.
The cost to defend the five Democrats on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors now sits at $96,000.
Taxpayers have racked up those charges as the county hired multiple attorneys to defend the sitting supervisors after they were named in a lawsuit alleging they violated Virginia’s sunshine law by attending a public meeting on May 31 without notifying the public.
Prince William County Supervisors voted to extend the deadline for residents to pay their property taxes.
During a meeting on Nov. 17, 2020, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors passed a resolution extending the payment deadline for real estate taxes for the second-half of 2020 for 60 days, changing the deadline from Dec. 5, 2020, to Feb. 3, 2021. The extension applies to both commercial and residential real property.
