A vehicle was found burned to the frame yesterday after a resident reported it stolen, according to reports from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The incident is still under investigation.

Two other counts of larceny — one at the 7-Eleven off Commerce Parkway and one at the Target on South Gateway drive — were reported by the Sheriff’s office.

Prince William County is set to reach a purchase agreement for a new homeless shelter on the same day the Dumfries Town Council is set to decide whether or not it will allow the facility — which is located in one of the regions most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Jose L. Herrera, age 45 passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was born August 20, 1975 in Arlington, Virginia to Jose and Maria (Vera) Herrera. Jose was an avid fisherman, had a passion for old school cars, loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. Jose was a comedian at heart and brought laughter and smiles to many. Jose met the love of his life, Rachel Vega 14 years ago and together they shared a blended family. He was a loving father to Arianna, step daughter Ariana, Jose, Tatiana and Lilliana. Grandfather of Keiko and Belle Doyle. Jose is survived by his sisters Ericka Herrera and Vanessa (Eric) Haskins, nephew Nicholas, nieces Sierra, Brianna, Sofia, Lucia and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Jose will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all that knew him.

The Stafford Regional Airport Authority wants to celebrate the region as the “birthplace of aviation.”

At a recent meeting, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors were treated to a presentation by the Authority’s liaison Phil Hornung who proposed attracting potential tourists by leaning on the county’s connections to the beginnings of aviation.
