Following a controversial party-line vote to approve a 99-home development in the county’s “rural crescent” last week, several members of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors’ Democratic majority have said for the first time that they are open to increased development in the rural area, including for industrial uses such as data centers and “workforce housing.”
Prince William police will hold a recruitment fair on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, from 9 a.m. to Noon.
The event will be held at the Charlie T. Deane Station, 5036 Davis Ford Road., Woodbridge.
I-66 East and West approaching Route 50 in Fairfax will be reduced to a single travel lane in each direction for about one mile during the overnight hours next week, as bridge beam installation continues at the I-66/Route 50 Interchange.
Two-way traffic will run on I-66 West so that crews can safely install bridge beams over the eastbound lanes of I-66. Work is weather dependent and could extend to the weekend if there is inclement weather. The Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Stafford County should have its sixth high school open by Spring 2025.
At the most recent meeting, the Stafford School Board was given a presentation concerning the breakdown of plans to bring High School #6 to fruition. The Stafford County Board approved the school in its Capital Improvements Program for the fiscal year 2021-2030.
Stafford County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget to the Stafford County School Board on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The proposed FY22 budget reinforces Stafford County Public Schools unwavering commitment to Equity with Excellence for All students.
“We are projecting approximately 29,700 students in FY22. This proposed budget ensures we are closer to meeting the needs of every single one,” said Kizner. “It also honors the teaching profession and recognizes the value of our teachers whose loyalty must be recognized and appreciated.”
Police said a 15-year-old girl agreed to meet a stranger she met online, and then was raped when the two went to his home.
The incident took place Sunday, January 23, and detectives learned of the incident on Wednesday, January 27.
