Occoquan residents will once again hear the blaring sound of a warning siren used to alert residents in the event of a dam break.
Fairfax Water will sound the siren on Wednesday, November 18, at 10 a.m. According to the water service’s website, the sirens were installed to warn residents of the Town of Occoquan, which lies below the dam, “in the highly unlikely” even of a massive failure.
The number of coronavirus cases in the Fredericksburg region continues to rise, but when the pandemic comes to a close, area leaders could be dealing with a wave of homelessness.
Fredericksburg’s homeless numbers have held steady at 207 people over the last 10 years. This number includes unsheltered homeless as well as reports of chronic homelessness.
Student-athletes at Osbourn High School will return to the field on December 7.

Robert (Bob) Helbringer passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020. His final days were spent surrounded by the family he loved so much.
Bob was born in Cherry Point, NC on June 13, 1954 to parents Raymond and Lorraine Helbringer.
Amadu Kargbo, 66, of Woodbridge, VA died November 12, 2020.
