Ahead of his first day on the job today, new Prince William County Police Chief Peter Newsham said he is open to some police reforms and accountability measures, including a proposed civilian review board and publicly disclosing the police department’s use-of-force and traffic-stop data.

The music in this choral concert captures the heart and soul of the American spirit through patriotic tunes and songs from the heartland. Joining the chorus are dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts and accompaniment from the talented members of Legacy Brass.

This family friendly and FREE event is perfect for young and old. Kids, parents, and grandparents will be familiar with many of the songs in this inspirational program. There are two opportunities to attend: Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 pm or Sunday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m.

Good news! We’ve reached that time of year when new year’s resolutions are making their way towards being discarded as fast as a fourth child’s artwork sails into the recycling bin. Even if you already gave up on your new year’s resolutions weeks ago (dry January fail anyone?), you still have reason to keep reading.

Why? Well, hidden within every failure is an opportunity to laugh at ourselves and recommit to creating the success we’re striving for.


Obituaries

Betty Erickson was born in 1923 and died surrounded by family on January 26, 2021. She had one sister and two half-brothers. She was married to Richard Erickson for over 54 years and raised nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husband, and two sons.  She is survived by her brothers, children, and her gaggle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She regularly updated a “brag wall,” composed of framed pictures of each one of her kids’ families that encircled the top of her bedroom walls like crown moulding.
