More poeple in the Fredericksburg region are being hospitalized for the coronavirus, according to a press release from the region’s health officer.
A total of 41 people are now in a hospital with coronavirus disease, up from 21 patients just a week ago. The number of new cases is also on the rise, according to the health officer, as 65 new cases per day are being reported. The number of new cases in the region has been increasing since March 19, when the average case rate was at 35 new cases per day.
Drivers on Route 17 near Falmouth south should expect overnight delays near Fredericksburg in the coming weeks.
Construction crews will hoist new beams into place at the intersection of the highway and Route 17. The beams will support a new bridge that will carry traffic on I-95 south over Route 17.

An arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred outside a Woodbridge nightclub.
Horace Gene Clark, 27, of Woodbridge is charged in the fatal shooting that took the life of 25-year-old Kalin Javon Robinson, of Stafford on Thursday, March 25.
