On Thursday, March 11, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will shift all traffic on Route 17 southbound at the bridge over Dragon Run to the left travel lane so that construction can continue to improve the bridge.

After Route 17 southbound traffic is shifted to the left travel lane, the right travel lane will become a permanent 24-hour single lane closure until the project is complete in Aug. 2021.

Starting Friday, Maryland restaurants will be able to reopen at full capacity.

On Tuesday, Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced the repeal of restrictions he put in place last year to limit capacity inside of restaurants to 50%. Eateries will be able to seat and serve guests at all of their tables without fear of retribution from the state.

The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) today announced that registration for the 46th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) opens to the public on Wednesday, March 10 at noon Eastern.

The 2021 MCM Weekend is currently scheduled as a virtual event with runners from across the country participating in the MCM, MCM50K or MCM10K from October 1 through November 11. Ambitious runners can once again sign up for the Semper Fidelis Challenge, a two-event challenge including either the Historic Half or the Devil Dog Double in May 2021 and the MCM or the MCM50K in October 2021. Runners may also pursue the Trifecta, a unique opportunity to participate in and complete all three MCM Weekend distances within the designated timeframe.

COVIDsmart, a digital health study designed to examine the many impacts of COVID- 19 on individuals and their communities launched today, with an open call for participation. The study welcomes participants from all walks of life across Virginia to share information on how the pandemic has affected their lives, even if they have not had COVID-19.

The initiative is sponsored by EVMS-Sentara Healthcare Analytics and Delivery Science Institute (HADSI), George Mason University (Mason), and health technology company Vibrent Health who are leading the initiative to gather information to help participants, researchers and public health entities better understand and address the impacts of the pandemic and future health crises.
