Hundreds of students and parents packed the cafeteria at C.D. Hylton High School on Thursday to taste-test new dishes that could appear on Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) menus next year.
Now in its 34th year, the annual PWCS Food Show invited the community to sample and rate more than a dozen new breakfast and lunch items — from sweet corn hushpuppies and French toast casserole to Caesar chicken pizza and fish taco bites with cilantro lime slaw.
“The southbound-running 95 Express Lanes will be closed between the exit for Dale Boulevard (Route 784) and the exit for Route 234 (Dumfries/Manassas) for Neabsco Creek bridge-related geotechnical work,” the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced. “The left lane will close from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, followed by a full closure from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.”
During the full closure, ramps from Opitz Boulevard (Route 2000) and the southbound I-95 general purpose lanes near mile marker 156.5 will also be closed. Southbound 95 Express Lanes traffic will be detoured to the general purpose lanes via the Dale Boulevard flyover and can re-enter the Express Lanes just past the Telegraph Road overpass in Stafford County.
“We are beginning the community engagement and planning process associated with the opening of two new elementary schools in eastern Prince William County,” Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) announced. “These schools are intended to serve elementary students and staff and respond to growing enrollment, particularly in the Cherry Hill area.”
“Woodbridge Elementary School is scheduled to open for the 2026-27 school year, and Potomac Shores Elementary School is scheduled to open for the 2027-28 school year,” the division stated. “No final decisions have been made at this time, and PWCS remains committed to transparency and community engagement throughout the redistricting process.”
“Francis was last seen in the City of Fredericksburg and may have been traveling through King George, Colonial Beach, or Brandywine, Maryland,” Fredericksburg Police Department reported. “He was last seen driving a tan Lincoln with Virginia license plate TDD-9818.”

“This week’s community dinner is full,” Always Flavored announced. “Thank you to everyone who signed up and to our generous partners for making this possible.”
The free meal event—sponsored by Obedience Kings Dog Training, Billikens Smokehouse, and Always Flavored—was organized to serve 200 people affected by the ongoing government shutdown. Meals are scheduled for pickup Monday, November 10, at Billikens Smokehouse in Fredericksburg.
“Join us for the Courthouse Fair on the Square at the Judicial Center, 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas,” Prince William County Government announced. “The free event will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12 to 4 p.m., featuring food trucks, interactive displays, public resources, and family-friendly activities.”
Organizers said the event will also serve as a drop-off site for the 2nd Annual Pet Supply Drive. The fair is hosted by the Office of the Circuit Court Clerk and Prince William County, with participation from local law enforcement and judicial partners.
“It was an unforgettable night, featuring a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by the Office of Stafford County Sheriff – David ‘DP’ Decatur, Sheriff Quartet, and a moving performance of ‘America the Beautiful’ by the All-County Marching Band,” Stafford County Public Schools shared. “The incredible show by our five Stafford County High School Marching Bands helped us achieve new heights in giving: 4,304 pounds of food collected and $17,340 in donations raised!”
The 15th Annual Band Together to Fight Hunger brought together students, families, and community partners to support local hunger relief. Donations from the event will benefit SERVE, local pantries, and the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank. Sponsors included Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Boy Scout Troop 2220, Girl Scout Troops 15 and 26, the University of Mary Washington’s Women’s Softball Team, and Manhattan Pizza – Stafford.
“Celebrate the holiday season with Fredericksburg Main Street at the grand opening of the Riverfront Park Ice Rink,” Fredericksburg Main Street announced. “Established in 2013, Fredericksburg Main Street is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping downtown businesses thrive by creating memorable experiences, unique opportunities, and programming that engage those who live, work, and visit downtown Fredericksburg.”
The grand opening will take place at Riverfront Park, 701 Sophia Street in Fredericksburg, hosted by Fredericksburg Main Street in partnership with the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. The nonprofit, accredited by both Virginia Main Street and Main Street America, organizes signature local events including First Friday Sip & Stroll, Downtown Shop Crawls, and the lighting of the giant Christmas tree in Riverfront Park.
