WOODBRIDGE — An old firehouse in Woodbridge will sell for $1 million.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by Fire House Plaza, LLC, owners of the property which housed the FearCliff Skatepark at 14500 Jefferson Davis Highway.


A second location of Jay’s Sports Lounge will open soon in the spot formerly located by Mick’s Lounge in North Stafford.

STAFFORD COUNTY — Another winter storm is potentially on its way to cover the region in snow and ice mid-week, and schools in the area are looking to recoup lost days by using holidays and exam days.

“This year has set a precedent,” Thomas Nichols, chief secondary officer for Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS), told Potomac Local. “We usually don’t miss this many days before the end of the semester.”

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Three priests who served in Prince William County are suspected of sexually abusing minors, according to the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, which encompasses Catholic parishes in Prince William County and Fredericksburg.

Reverend Kevin Downey, O.F.M., served as Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle from July 2011 to May 2016.


MANASSAS — Manassas has finished the initial stages for its Comprehensive Plan for 2040 and is now headed into technical studies by the Planning Commission’s Comprehensive Plan Committee over the next few months.

Eventually, the plan will go before the City Council for direction and ultimately adoption.


WOODBRIDGE — OmniRide felt the sting of the latest partial government shutdown.

Ridership on OmniRide express commuter buses fell 15.6 percent from January 1st through the 25th. That comes to a loss of 788 passengers per day and resulted in the loss of $5,169 per day in fare revenue.


DALE CITY — A larger than life presence was laid to rest.

A funeral for John Douglas Jenkins, 79, was held at the Hytlon Memorial Chapel. More than 500 people gathered Wednesday, Feb. 13 to say farewell to the longest-serving Prince William County Supervisor in history.


Prince William County is a big place. More than just the county of nearly a half-million people, there are five towns and two cities geographically located inside Prince William County’s borders.
