PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The Prince William County School Board like the idea of ads on school buses.

It met convened on February 7 and took a straw on this subject, and the board voted in favor of the advertising 5-3.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The soon to be former home of the Potomac Nationals could be transformed into a multifunctional community center with shopping outlets, recreational facilities, and housing developments in the near future.

A team of four companies, led by DCS Design, suggested the community development idea in their response to a Request for Information (RFI) from the Prince William County Board of County Supervisors.


STAFFORD — The idea to build an indoor recreation center at Aquia Town Center has its supporters.

Stafford Soccer General Manager Barry Hill said he’s got 4,000 members, from children to adults, who play the sport that would not only utilize the facility but would also participate in two-day tournaments that would draw in hundreds from far away.


STAFFORD — The School Board postponed a series of planned public hearings on Feb. 12 and Feb. 26 for the ongoing elementary school redistricting process.

The move delays a commitment by the Board to have a redistricting plan in place by the end of the month in exchange for funds from the Board of Supervisors to purchase a building in North Stafford to be converted into head start center.


QUANTICO MARINE CORPS BASE — Quantico’s CDC (Child Development Center) North has reopened for business after a sewage backup.

The center was closed for over a week, displacing 230 children, after sewage flooded several rooms in the facility, said Quantico Marine Corps Base spokesman Maj. Ken Kunze.


STAFFORD — The slated improvements to Juggins Road in North Stafford is one of the county’s most important road projects.

Juggins Road is the main thoroughfare that will carry hundreds of students, and teachers to a new Anne. E. Moncure Elementary that is slated to open this fall.

WOODBRIDGE — When Corey Stewart was running for governor in 2017, he was accused time and again of being a racist.

The Republican during the campaign defended calls to leave standing Confederate statues in public squares to at a time when many were calling on local governments to take them down and mothball them in storage units or relocate them to National Parks.


MANASSAS — The city council and school board have reached a temporary funding agreement for the fiscal year of 2020 that includes a 3 percent increase to Manassas City Public Schools.

The budget was decided at an annual city council retreat.
