The middle portion of Stafford County is going through an industrial awakening, of sorts.

There is renewed interest from manufacturers in developing parcels of land near the Stafford Regional Airport on Centreport Parkway. But conditions on the land, known as proffers, set back in the 1980s and 90s, are holding things up, county officials say.


A teenager was rescued from a go-kart when her hair became entangled in the gears.

Fire and rescue crews were called to Fun Land of Fredericksburg, at 1351 Central Park Boulevard at 7:12 p.m. on Sunday. The found a female victim trapped on a go-kart, with one of their hair braids caught in the gears of the motor directly behind her, and underneath her.


There just might be room for another Lidl grocer in Stafford County.

The Stafford County School Board is considering revisions to their student transfer policy that will increase the cut-off for elementary schools from 80 percent to 90 percent capacity.

Already, middle schools and high schools are designated closed and won’t accept new transfer students when they reach 90% capacity. Some exceptions are made under extenuating circumstances.


Where people once used to go hit the links, they’ll now be hitting the books.

Manassas Park agreed to $3.1 million deal with Maryland-based Library Systems & Services to create and manage a new library at the site of the old Generals Ridge Golf Course, now called Bloom’s Park, over the course of 10 years.
