The Don Brown Experience was one of many bands on the bill at the Black Lives Matter Unity in the Community Concert on June 13.
The band got to play live for the first time since the beginning of the shutdown, bringing a mix of funk, soul, R&B, and gospel.
The Stafford County School Board is looking to pass a new policy on employee conduct, including regulations for electronic communications with students.
Under this policy, employees are allowed to engage in electronic communication with students on school-approved platforms for “legitimate purposes connected to school programs or services,” the policy outlines.
Cuts are being made across the board to the Fredericksburg City budget due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The new $94 million budget is a decrease from the original $103.4 million that was set before the pandemic hit in March. The new budget is also lower than last year’s the $101 million operating budget.
The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is extending its Operating and Access agreement with CSX Transportation (CSX) for one more year, but the deal may not go much further than June 2021.
This 2011 agreement allows VRE commuter trains to use the tracks between Fredericksburg and Washington, D.C. and was set to expire by the end of this month. VRE uses railways that are owned by CSX, and similar agreements have been in place between the two organizations since 1994.
Stafford residents will have one less option to get their sweets fix.

There still isn’t a confirmed date of when full library operations will resume for the Prince William Public Library System.
Phase one of reopening will start on Monday, June 15, according to an email from Rachel Johnson, Communication Services Division Chief.
The Manassas City Council voted unanimously on Monday night to approve an agreement with the Prince William Board of County Supervisors for library services.
The agreement will now head to the Board of County Supervisors on June 16. If signed, it would provide a library branch, run by the Prince William Library System, in Manassas at 10104 Dumfries Road in the Wellington shopping center.

Power is now restored to all of those affected, said city spokeswoman Patty Prince. A squirrel is blamed for the outage — same as Monday.
Students in Stafford County middle and high schools may no longer be allowed to use cell phones in class for instructional purposes.
At the county’s June 9 school board meeting, the board discussed exhibits one and two of Regulation 2401, which would “eliminate the use of cell phones in the classroom for instructional purposes,” according to school board documentation.
