Stafford County, Va. – It was a night for residents to come outside and meet their neighbors.

More than 300 people Tuesday attended a National Night Out celebration at Stafford Marketplace, off Va. 610 in North Stafford, where they met animals, took pony rides, participated in raffle drawings and met members of the local sheriff’s and fire and rescue departments.


North Stafford – A house fire in North Stafford left a man, woman and a teenager homeless Monday.

Flames broke out at 208 Whitson’s Run Drive at 9:25 a.m., and when firefighters arrived to the home, they saw smoke billowing from the roof of the house, said Stafford County spokeswoman Cathy Riddle.


The Stafford Sheriff’s Office will hold a large gathering at the Stafford Marketplace off Va. 610 in North Stafford, from 6 to 9 p.m.

More than 30 businesses and community organizations will be represented at the fair, including the LifeEvac helicopter, local fire and rescue departments and an area animal adoption organization. (more…)


Woodbridge, Va. – Autocross is how some people wish Drivers Education was taught in schools.

The sport dates back to the 1970s and beyond, participants say. And at C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge on Saturday about 50 drivers signed up to take a spin around a track designed to test their driving skills, turning ability and control, and to see how well they could avoid hitting orange cones. North Stafford, Va. – Cell phones and credit cards were stolen from gym lockers at a North Stafford health club.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Sport and Health Club at 315 Garrisonville Road on Friday, where they found that the items had been stolen from lockers that had been left unlocked, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy. (more…)


A local congressman says Washington’s police chief assures him authorities in that city won’t ticket drivers who drop off and pick up slugs on 14th Street.

Rep. Gerald E. “Gerry” Connolly, D-11th sent a letter to Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier earlier this month after reports surfaced  that police officers were ticketing drivers who were picking up slugs in order to use Interstate 395 and 95’s High Occupancy Vehicle lanes.  (more…)
