When you step into the polling booth Tuesday residents in the Potomac Communities and across Virginia will be faced with three questions about three proposed amendments to Virginia’s constitution.
We’ve pulled an explanation of the proposed amendments from the Virginia State Board of Elections Web site because we believe that is the most fair and balanced way of describing what’s at stake when voters head to the polls.

The tornado watch that remained in effect for Stafford County has been canceled.
Stafford, Va. –– It appears school officials in Stafford County have selected who will be the next superintendent of the county’s public school system.
The county’s school board will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday announce who the new superintendent will be, said Stafford schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim.
Woorbridge, Va. –– Home values in the Potomac Communities may be on the way up.
According to a report today in DCist, houses in the 22191 (Woodbridge) and 22193 (Dale City) zip codes have been selling on average just below their actual list prices, putting the neighborhood on Washington, D.C. – based real estate firm ZipRealty’s “cool list.” (more…)
Lake Ridge, Va. –– Police say a man robbed a grocery store and then led police on a chase, all while his young child was inside the getaway car.
Officers were called to the Bloom grocery store at 12420 Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge at 9:53 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery.
A Stafford County sheriff’s deputy who happened to be driving by a shopping center in the 600 block of Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) heard a burglar alarm going off at 2:53 a.m.
That alarm was coming from the Car Quest auto parts store, which sits next to a nail shop, hair salon and a florist.
