New commuter bus service from eastern Prince William County to Mark Center begins today.

Commuter buses will take riders from neighborhoods in Dale City and Lake Ridge to Mark Center, the federal employment hub in Alexandria that is the home to the Department of Defense’s Washington Headquarters Services, and other Department of Defense agencies.


The Potomac Nationals this upcoming season will giveaway bobble head dolls, welcome a WWE star, celebrate Frank Costanza’s hilariously frightful “Festivus” holiday, and honor the films “Star Wars,” “Top Gun,” and “The Bad News Bears.”

A new proposal aims to do away with a fee charged to those in Prince William County who wish to get concealed gun carry permits.

Residents who apply for a state concealed carry permit are charged a $50 fee. In Prince William County, the sheriff’s office processes those permits usually within 10 days. They check for any possible criminal history for the applicant.


Virginia’s sales tax covers almost everything you buy, from athletic socks to zippers. But it doesn’t apply to medicine, contact lenses and certain other personal health items. Now, the General Assembly is considering adding feminine hygiene products to the list of exemptions.

Del. Mark Keam (Fairfax County) introduced House Bill 952, which seeks to remove the sales tax on tampons and sanitary napkins in Virginia. Currently these items are taxed at the standard rate, like most other items: 6 percent in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads, and 5.3 percent in the rest of the state.
