STAFFORD — (Press Release) For 2019, the Stafford County Economic Development Authority (EDA) presented its Cornerstone Business Award to LifeCare Medical Transports and its Business of the Year award to SimVentions.
The Cornerstone Business Award is an annual award presented to the Stafford County business that exemplifies long-term economic impact and corporate citizen commitment to their business, workforce, and the Stafford County community.
Burke & Herbert Bank announced David P. Boyle will join the Bank as its new President & Chief Operating Officer, effective June 3.
Scott McSween, who holds this position currently, will become the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer and serve in this role until the end of 2019, when he will retire from the Bank. Mr. Boyle will be named Chief Executive Officer at the beginning of 2020.
MANASSAS – Novant Health UVA Health System’s Prince William Medical Center and Haymarket Medical Center were both awarded ‘A’ safety grades.
These grades were determined by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit committed to improving health care quality and safety, during their spring 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
MANASSAS — Mary Ann Bendinelli of Weichert’s Manassas office led her real estate region in sales and resales last month. This region is comprised of offices throughout Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Orange, Prince William and Warren counties.
Mark Ackermann, president of Weichert, Realtors’ Capital Region, announced that Bendinelli was being recognized for exceptional performance in April.
FREDERICKSBURG — Although construction vehicles have yet to appear at the planned Fredericksburg Baseball stadium site, fans and residents have no reason to fear an Opening Day delay according to Fredericksburg’s Director of Economic Development and Tourism Bill Freehling.
“The team continues to make significant progress toward the beginning of construction work,” Freehling wrote in an email to Potomac Local. “They [Fredericksburg Baseball] hope to be underway early this summer.”

Peden has worked in accounting for over 25 years with various companies. Over time, he developed a dream to one day open his own business. In December of last year, that dream resurfaced.

MANASSAS — The 50th-anniversary celebration in remembrance of IBM’s Manassas facility was held on May 2.
IBM announced in October 1968 that it was building a 250,000 sq ft manufacturing and laboratory facility. Construction began shortly after the first such IBM facility in Virginia. The decision by IBM to build a facility in Manassas was significant for this predominantly rural and agricultural community.
WOODBRIDGE — Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center has been approved to add a mobile PET/CT scanner to its services. This brings important cancer detection technology to the area, which had previously involved long commutes for patients.
“By offering this service locally, we are able to reduce travel burdens for patients by offering conveniently located, easily navigated services with ample complimentary parking,” Heather Causseaux, director of oncology services for Sentara, told Potomac Local.
