Low prices don’t make up for lack of customer service at new bargain basement retailer in Prince William County

The money that you might have planned to save by shopping at the new Ollies discount store just outside Manassas will be offset by the time you’ll spend in line.

I went to the new store on Sudley Road across from Manassas Mall at 2 p.m. Tuesday to return two glass food storage containers that didn’t seal when closed. The shop was bustling with people shopping for Christmas, everything from foodstuffs to towels, books, to kitchen blenders.

The morning after her historic win, Delegate-elect Danica Roem picked up the phone and began talking to local officials about moving forward on her top campaign promise: Fix Route 28.

The Democrat on Tuesday defeated Delegate Bob Marshall, who held the House District 13 seat since 1991. She has a lot of ideas on how to improve what’s been dubbed the most congested road in Northern Virginia.

MANASSAS — Does it solve a traffic problem? Or does a proposed traffic circle on Route 28 simply create a new grand entrance for Downtown Manassas?

The city will spend $75,000 on a study that will look at creating a new roundabout at the intersection of Route 28, Sudley Road, and Prescott Avenue. If built, it would replace a signal light in a busy part of town surrounded by grocery stores, pharmacies, and car dealerships.

In a wave of blue, Democrats on Tuesday swept out almost every last Republican in Prince William County in the General Assembly.

Only Republican Tim Hugo (R-40, Fairfax, Prince William) appears to have been spared by just 115 votes.

The Bull Run Warrior Retreat set to expand its Haymarket campus

Larry Zillox created the culinary visitors program at the Bull Run Warrior Retreat .

Near the base of the Bull Run Mountain, a favorite retreat for wounded warriors is expanding.

A $300,000 donation from the Pen Fed Foundation will allow the charity “Serve Our Willing Warriors” to build a second, cottage-style home on the 37-acre property in Haymarket called the Bull Run Warrior Retreat.

A single lane a positive sign for E-ZPass commuters on I-95

STAFFORD — It took $50 million to build one lane, and today it opened.

The 95 E-ZPass Express Lanes have been extended just past Garrisonville Road. Now, drivers have the option of getting off on Garrisonville Road, or staying in the express toll lanes — or in this case lane — to head south and merge back into the main travel lanes of Interstate 95 before Courthouse Road.
