STAFFORD — A lawsuit filed in Stafford County court aims to have a controversial land-use decision that limited “cluster” subdivisions tossed out.

The suit claims a March 20 decision by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors to limit the development of cluster subdivisions — where homes are built on smaller lots, closer together to preserve open space, in an effort to save developers money and drive up profits — devalued their land.

WOODBRIDGE — One of the busiest libraries in Prince William County is set to close for renovations once more.

Chinn Park Regional Library will close its doors from April 23 to June 3 for upgrades to computer workstation areas, children reading areas, and for the creation of a new meeting and conference room.

STAFFORD — Officials will take about three-tenths of an acre of land on Juggins Road in North Stafford ahead of the opening of a new Moncure Elementary School.

The Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to take the property after ongoing negotiations between the homeowners association on Juggins Road and county officials failed. Per the association’s bylaws, two-thirds of the homeowners needed to approve the take of the property, but that didn’t happen.

MANASSAS — Virginia Railway Express officials recommend expanding the Broad Run station from its current footprint northward across the tracks.

The commuter railroad recommends building the “north/south option” that would mean adding a new parking lot for riders across the tracks on the north side of the station. It would also mean adding a new station entrance on Residency Road, to provide more station access from Route 28.
