MANASSAS — Black leaders in Prince William County put the focus on mental health Monday night.

Cozy Bailey, president of the Prince William County chapter of the NAACP welcomed about 25 people to a panel discussion about better access to health care for Virginia residents.

Hey, Prince William County: This is how to ride a local bus.

Many of the OmniRide local bus routes that serve eastern Prince William County stop at the PRTC Transit Center in Woodbridge.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday spent a lot of time discussing whether or not Washington D.C.’s Metro subway will ever be extended to Woodbridge. 

Apparently, Prince William residents have trouble mastering some of the concepts of riding something as simple as a local bus.

Metro in doubt and CTE on the rise, Prince William rethinks economic development

WOODBRIDGE — With the lack of Metro rail and a glut of open office space, Prince William County leaders will look again at the types of business it aims to attract to the region.

Members of the Board of Supervisors met during an un-televised session of their regularly scheduled Tuesday meeting to discuss how to grow the region’s economy.

MANASSAS — Manassas Mayor Hal Parrish, II said the landmark Micron expansion deal has been a project in the making for the last 10 years. The City has been preparing to accommodate the impact this technology giant will bring to the region, creating  1,100 new high-paying jobs by 2030.

Governor Ralph Northam announced the expansion at the city’s Godwin Drive manufacturing plant earlier this month. Micron will develop new technologies for driverless cars.

Copters to cars: Micron’s $3 billion expansion makes Manassas a leader in autonomous vehicles

MANASSAS — Micron on Wednesday announced a major expansion at its Manassas production facility.

The silicon chip maker will invest $3 billion over the next 10 years in developing technology for driverless cars. The announcement comes as automakers are looking to increase the capacity of the memory inside the cars and trucks, at the dawn of the automated vehicle era.

Podcast: The plastics problem in Prince William County

On this edition of the Potomac Local Podcast, reporter Olivia Briscoe joins me to talk about her reporting on the Prince William County Landfill, and about how plastics are piling up there. 

She reported this week that, since a decision made by China earlier this year to stop accepting used plastics for recycling, that waste has been piling up at the local landfill.
