NORTH STAFFORD — A new head start center in North Stafford opened this week with little fanfare.

“There wasn’t a letter sent out to parents about it being opened. There wasn’t anything on Facebook. There was something on Twitter, but I don’t tweet,” one parent told the Stafford County School Board during its Tuesday night meeting.

Wellness, BMX & skateboard parks planned for Lake Ridge

LAKE RIDGE — A new wellness park is coming to the site of an old commuter parking lot.

The two-and-half acre lot at the corner of Harbor Drive in Minnieville Road, near a Senatra Medical Center, will be the home of what is being dubbed the Harbor Drive Wellness Park. It’ll feature playground equipment for all ages, from toddlers to seniors, to people with disabilities.

NEW PARK: ‘Michele McQuigg deserves even more than a park named after her’

LAKE RIDGE — Ruth Anderson is standing behind her call to name a new park after the late Michele McQuigg, a longtime public servant who came under fire when she opposed same-sex marriage.

The Prince William County Park Commission last month decided to go back the drawing board when it comes to naming the 15-acre park at the corner of Old Bridge Road and Oakwood Drive in Lake Ridge. It was asked to make a recommendation on whether or not McQuigg’s name should be used for the park.

Updated: In debt, Manassas Park to once again require residents to buy, display decals

MANASSAS PARK — Manassas Park officials are bucking a regional trend of doing not requiring its residents to post decals on their vehicle windshields.

After doing away with them in 2017, the city will once again require residents to pay for the stickers that prove they paid their city taxes, and are a city resident.
