The Prince William County Parks and Recreation Department contracted with ECT Institute of Olathe, Kansas which produced a nearly 600 – page report on unmet needs in county parks.

Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in I-95 crash involving bus

QUANTICO — A bus carrying 40 people was involved in a crash on Interstate 95 south.

The bus was one of at least five vehicles involved in the crash at the 147.5-milepost, near the rear entrance of Quantico Marine Corps Base.

Baig launches independent bid for Chairman, focuses on education

The independent is the second third entry to the race this year. He follows independent Don Scoggins who entred teh race in May.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — On this Flag Day Friday, June 14, Supervisor Jeanine Lawson’s office has some new colors on the wall.

Members of the Freedom Museum in the Manassas Regional Airport joined members of the Stonewall Jackson Senior High School Air Force JROTC, who all presented the Brentsville District Supervisor with not only a U.S. flag for her office, but also flags from every branch of the U.S. military.

I-95 ‘outer connector’ bypass road to be discussed Monday

FREDERICKSBURG — Officials will reignite talks of an outer connector road, a bypass that would help alleviate congestion on Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg region.

There are several options for an outer connector, with some plans starting the road at I-95 at Massaponnax and taking it west through Spotsylvania County, crossing the Rappahannock River into Stafford County, and then reconnecting to I-95 at Stafford’s Centreport Parkway, near the county’s regional airport.

Townhome, traffic concerns plague plan to build 394 homes on Route 17

STAFFORD COUNTY — A total of 223 planned townhouses is what did in a rezoning request on Route 17.

The Stafford County Planning Commission on May 29 voted to deny rezoning 163 acres of land across from a Walmart on Route 17 in the Hartwood section of Stafford County, and next to the Cardinal Forest subdivision. The request will now move on to the Board of Supervisors where a final decision will be made.

Milde beats Thomas in Republican House of Delegates Primary Election

FREDERICKSBURG — Appealing to conservative values, Paul Milde has secured his place on the November 5 General Election.

Milde, a former Stafford County Supervisor, on Tuesday ran against Republican Bob Thomas, who held the 28th District House of Delegates seat since 2018 and won.

Josh King wins Democratic bid to run for Prince William sheriff

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Josh King won his bid to be the Democrat to run for Prince William County Sheriff.

The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Deputy won Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election by 3,881 more votes than his opponent, Dumfries Town Councilman Brian Fields.

Rashid bests Sellers in bid for Virginia Senate 28 seat

STAFFORD — Qasim Rashid won his bid to be the Democratic nominee for Virginia Senate 28th District seat.

He beat his opponent, former Stafford County Board of Supervisors member Laura Sellers, by 377 votes. Rashid won Tuesday’s Primary Election with 61% of the vote, with a total of 5,498 ballots cast.
