OmniRide launches first service in Stafford County

The Prince William County-based transit provider started running new buses from the Staffordboro Commuter Lot to L’Enfant Plaza and the Pentagon.

Why it matters: It is the first time OmniRide has operated service outside Prince William County, Manassas, or Manassas Park.

Everyone loves a parade, so when I woke up the morning after the history-making Washington Nationals’ World Series win, I contacted Virginia Railway Express to see if it planned to provide service to the victory parade on Saturday.

After watching every thrilling and (at times) agonizing minute of the World Series, I plan to go to the parade.

At about 8:30 a.m., fans strolled in to purchase the hoodies, t-shirts, and other collectible merchandise displayed at a table in front of the store.

Championship merchandise had yet to arrive at another nearby store in the shopping mall, Locker Room by Lids.

The Nationals victory parade is set for 2 p.m. at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and 15th Street NW.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors is asking residents to borrow up to $50 million for multiple road improvements.

Why it matters: If approved, the county would go into debt in order to pay for the road projects, limiting its ability to borrow money for other local government needs.

VRE’s new interim CEO sits on trains, wanting to chat

Rich Dalton rode a Manassas line train to work today, and it sparked an email to fellow riders telling them that he was in the front of the train and willing to talk.

While railroad’s Operations Board searches for a permanent replacement for Allen, Dalton has encouraged other members of VRE’s executive staff to ride rains on both of the system’s lines — Fredericksburg and Manassas — and to engage with customers.
