Road crews will be out working on Route 1 in Stafford County for the next three weeks.

Drivers will see mobile, daytime lane closures between Truslow, and American Legion/Eskimo Hill roads as crews will work to clean roadside shoulders and ditches to improve drainage. They’ll also be laying down a fresh layer of stone along the shoulder of the road, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.

Prince William County residents are getting a look at how much their property taxes could increase in the coming year.

The Board of County Supervisors on Tuesday will hold a public hearing on the county’s proposed $1.4 billion budget. That’s a 6.5 percent increase over the previous year’s budget.


Traffic

Work continues on the Interstate 66 E-ZPass Express Lanes Project.

Several traffic pattern changes are set to be implemented at the intersection of Route 28 and Braddock Road near I-66. On Monday, April 13, the left-turn lanes from Route 28 North to Braddock Road and the ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road will close to traffic.

A man who authorities said walked into a Bank of America and tried to passoff a stolen check is now behind bars.

It happened at 3:51 p.m. at 1525 Stafford Marketplace, when Stafford County Sheriff’s deputies were called t to the bank where employees said a man tried to cash a check that had been reported stolen, and had been altered from $1,500 to $11,000, sheriff’s department spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo said. 


Water authority officials in Prince William County say a failed backup generator led to a sewage spill at the Occoquan River.

After an exclusive investigation, Potomac Local News has learned a tree limb fell onto a power line on Friday, April 3, knocking out power to a sewage pumping station at 13221 Marina Way in the Belmont Bay section of Woodbridge, according to Dominion Energy spokeswoman Peggy Fox.

As security guard and the OmniRide Transit Center in Woodbridge got into an argument with another man and was pushed to the ground and beaten.

Prince William police were called to the transit center at 14700 Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 7. While the security guard was on the ground, another man started kicking the guard, and then pulled out a knife and then held it to his throat, police said.
