It’s finally time to play ball.
The Fredericksburg Nationals take the field for the first time since leaving Woodbridge in 2019 at 6:30 p.m. They face off in the first of 24 matchups this season with the Lynchburg Hillcats.
Some annual events for which Manassas City has developed a reputation will take place this year.

Arrest made in Manassas area shooting
On April 30, the suspect sought in connection to the shooting that was reported to have occurred in the 8000 block of Coachcrest Court in the Coverstone neighborhood near Manassason on April 29, was arrested. The suspect, Joel Thomas Schrank, was taken into custody by members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department in West Virginia.
The Prince William County Police Department will hold a recruitment event tomorrow, Saturday, May 1.

Major General William J. Walker, a member of the Advisory Council to the Board of Directors of the Young Marines, based in Dumfries, has been sworn in as the sergeant-at-arms for the United States House of Representatives.
Formerly, Major General Walker was the commander of Washington, D.C. National Guard. He is the 38th person and first Black American to serve as sergeant-at-arms.
Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis Younger wants you to donate a meal to someone less fortunate tomorrow.
The city declared May 1, 2021 National Donate a Lunch Day in Manassas. Davis Younger made the proclamation earlier this week during a city council meeting.
