The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service and New York State Police, has captured Alyssa Jane Venable after a high-speed pursuit in New York. Venable is suspected of killing three adults in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and is awaiting extradition.

Spotsylvania County authorities are actively searching for Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, in connection with the deaths of three individuals. The victims, Robert John McGuire, 77, Gregory Scott Powell, 60, and Carol Anne Reese, 65, all from Spotsylvania County, were found deceased in their home on White Street Court late Tuesday evening.
Deputies were called to the home on June 4, 2024, at 10 p.m. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of the three adults, all of whom had sustained fatal upper body trauma. The subsequent investigation revealed that Venable, a roommate of the victims, was responsible for the murders, police said. She is currently wanted for three counts of 2nd Degree Murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, they add.
Major Elizabeth Scott of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the investigation is still in its early stages, with detectives actively pursuing leads on Venable's whereabouts. Authorities are withholding certain details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Assault by Mob | Brandishing of a Firearm [Previously Released] – On February 12 at 12:45AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4300 block of Sudley Rd. in Haymarket (20169) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed a group was involved in an altercation at the residence that escalated. During the encounter one of the victims, a 31-year-old woman, was physically assaulted while a second victim, a 25-year-old man, had a knife held to his neck. A short time later, another individual brandished a firearm and held it to the male victim’s head. Eventually, parties separated, and the victims left the residence to a neighbor’s home where police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.
In other crime news, on June 5, officers responded to two separate incidents involving intoxicated individuals who assaulted law enforcement officers.
The first incident occurred at 7:21 p.m. at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, where officers arrested Ana Rivera Sotelo, 20, after she resisted and assaulted officers. She was charged with three counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and one count of being intoxicated in public and was held without bond. The second incident happened at 9:04 p.m. in the 3800 block of Fettler Park Dr. in Dumfries, where Connor Grey Lloyd, 29, resisted arrest and pushed an officer. He was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, and being intoxicated in public and was held on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

When officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and pushed an officer before being detained without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Connor Grey LLOYD, was arrested.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On June 5 at 7:21PM, officers responded to Potomac Mills located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a trespasser. Responding officers located a woman, later identified as the accused, who was with mall security and refusing to leave the mall. While investigating the incident, officers determined the accused was intoxicated and detained her without incident. As officers were escorting the accused to a police vehicle, she actively resisted kicking and assaulting officers. Eventually, the accused was secured and placed inside the vehicle. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Ana RIVERA SOTELO, was arrested. While

The results showed that 43 respondents, or 31.16%, support the purchase and believe it will positively impact local economic development. They see potential benefits in the city's involvement with the shopping center.

A 17-year-old male from Triangle has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on June 3 in Triangle, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old and injuries to three others. The incident, believed to have stemmed from an ongoing dispute, continues to be investigated by detectives.

Murder Investigation *ARREST – Detectives have identified and arrested a juvenile suspect in connection to the fatal shooting that was reported to have occurred in the 3700 block of Masthead Trl. in Triangle (22172) on the evening of June 3. During the investigation, detectives determined the accused fired towards a group of five males, including the four victims and a fifth man who was uninjured. Further investigation revealed the parties were known to one another and the incident is believed to have stemmed from a previous altercation and ongoing dispute between the parties. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, was arrested. The investigation continues as detectives seek to identify any other parties possibly involved in the fatal shooting.
