At a recent meeting, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution to use funds gained through the CARES Act to improve wireless broadband access in some of the more underserved areas of the county.

Stafford approves the second round of funding for local libraries to deal with the coronavirus.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors voted to release the second round of funding to the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. The library will receive $31,700 from the federal CARES Act funding to deal with expenses incurred for Fiscal Year 2021 to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak in their buildings.

The number of coronavirus cases in the Fredericksburg region continues to rise, but when the pandemic comes to a close, area leaders could be dealing with a wave of homelessness.

Fredericksburg’s homeless numbers have held steady at 207 people over the last 10 years. This number includes unsheltered homeless as well as reports of chronic homelessness.

Stafford County plans to relaunch its Fats, Oils, and Grease, known as FOGs, program after being put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At a recent Infrastructure Committee meeting, members of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors learned the program prevents damage caused by the sludge that flows from kitchen sinks to the county’s pipes and sewers, and out to streams and rivers.

The Winchester Street parking garage in downtown Fredericksburg is now open to the public.

According to a press release from the City, the new parking garage on Winchester Street in Downtown Fredericksburg in now available for parking. Fredericksburg has for the past several years been leasing the Barton Street lot located at the corner of Barton and William streets while the nearby garage was planned and built.

A controversial Confederate flag that sits off of I-95 in Stafford County is coming down.

Hartwood District Supervisor Gary Snellings on Tuesday, Oct. 27 took to his Facebook page to announce that the 80-foot-tall Confederate battle flag that stands next to Interstate 95 near Falmouth will come down by the end of the week.
